What You Should Know About Cheap Drum Sets

Have you ever heard the saying, "You Get What You Pay For?" Cheap drum sets adhere to the same rule of thumb.

That saying has stuck because it is true.

Drum sets have really come down in price over the last 5-10 years. There really is no need to feel compelled to buy a used drum set from a professional and expect to pay around $1500.00. Those days are gone; and that is good news.

You should look for a standard set-up to start with. This includes: bass drum, snare, snare stand, two mounted toms, mounted tom hardware, floor tom, hi hat stand, hi hat cymbals, ride cymbal stand, ride cymbal and a seat. Most beginner drum sets come with one ride cymbal/crash.

There are many ways to obtain inexpensive drum sets.

The following list will give you some ideas and possibilities of where you can find them:

1. Visit your local music/drum store

Speak to the drum representative and tell them you are looking for a beginners drum set. They will show you a variety of drum sets at a price range between $200 and $1000 US.

2. Check your local classified section of the newspaper under the listing of 'Musical Instruments'

This approach will lead you to very few possibilities, but there can be some good finds here. Sometimes people just want to sell a very good quality item fast and make some quick money.

3. Visit your local band rehearsal studios

Ask at the front desk if they know of anyone selling what you're looking for. Check their bulletin board for people selling items that interest you.

4. Speak to your son/daughter's music teacher at their school

The school music teacher often has a connection with the local music store to buy items for their students at a reduced price.
